November is here, which means one thing… We are Ready. To. Go. All we need is a little help from Mother Nature. As soon as temps drop to favorable snowmaking weather, we’ll start blasting snow. Our team has spent the last few days testing our system and we are looking great.
We are 100% set up and ready to go on Phase 1. It looks like we have a potential window to fire up our system around Veteran’s Day Weekend. Phase 1 terrain includes South Slope, Upper, and Lower Beginner’s Luck, Tubing Park, Base Area, and the Magic Carpet. After a few days on Phase 1, we’ll move to Phase 2 which includes trails off the summit.
Over the summer we increased the size of our snowmaking pipe that will in turn increase water capacity for snowmaking on and near the summit. Since 2011, we have invested over $1 million in snowmaking improvements. These upgrades have allowed us to cut snowmaking hours by 25%, with the ability to make snow faster utilizing smaller periods of colder weather (beneficial early season), also, reducing electric use by half.
As always, we’ll keep everyone up to date on snowmaking right here.
Until next time!
