Cranmore Mountain Resort to Host Military Families for a Day of Skiing and Winter Fun
North Conway, NH (January 28, 2018) – Just in time to wrap up National Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month, over 100 local Veteran Service Members and their families will gather at Cranmore Mountain Resort for a day of skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing on Sunday, January 28th. The free day of winter activities is made possible through a new partnership between Cranmore and Home Base, a Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Program.
This event is part of Home Base’s Adventure Series, a series of free events throughout the year aimed at strengthening military family bonds before, during and after deployment. Veterans and their families may explore a new sport, connect with other military families, and learn more about the clinical services, education, and research offered by Home Base.
Cranmore will provide equipment (including adaptive ski gear), instructors, lift tickets and lessons for all participants. Some of the military families in attendance have been attending Home Base Adventure Series events for the past several years, while others will be attending an event for the very first time. Several members of the Home Base Veteran Outreach Team, will be there to greet the military families at the mountain that morning.
“All of us at Cranmore are committed to creating a place where our guests can become better at the things they love doing here. We are proud of our new partnership with Home Base, and hope to continue providing veterans and their families with the opportunity to enjoy our winter pastime,” added Rebecca Deschenes, Director of Marketing at Cranmore.
“It’s a day the entire family can enjoy, and it’s a way for military families to meet and network with other like-minded families,” says Jacque Francona, a Family Outreach Coordinator at Home Base. “This new partnership with Cranmore is exciting because it’s allowing us to introduce our program to a new area and engage families that we may not have reached before. We appreciate Cranmore’s commitment to our mission and we’re looking forward to hitting the slopes on Sunday!”
