Local Students Receive Donovan Family Scholarship
North Conway, NH – Longtime friends of Cranmore, George and Mary Donovan, and Cranmore Mountain Resort are pleased to announce the recipients of the Donovan Family Scholarship; a program created to give deserving children of the local area the opportunity to build on their passion for the sport of skiing as well as provide an opportunity for a child to experience skiing beyond a weekly program.
The intent of the scholarship is to assist a student who may otherwise be unable to participate in a Cranmore Ski Program (Cranmore Race Team and/or Rattlesnakes Seasonal Program) by providing tuition and a season pass. Skiing is a fun and energetic activity and the scholarship will help encourage the growth of the sport as part of an active and healthy lifestyle in the Mount Washington Valley.
Recipients of for the 2017-2018 winter season are Emma Gaudete from John Fuller School and Jocelyn Gagnon from Conway Elementary.
“Realizing not every family can afford the cost of ski racing or a seasonal program, we’re proud to be working in conjunction with the Donovan’s and with the local schools to be able to award a scholarship to a deserving child who exhibits a love for skiing,” said Cranmore’s President and General Manager, Ben Wilcox.
To be eligible for the scholarship, the child must be enrolled in Grades 3-6 at John Fuller, Conway Elementary or Pine Tree, must be a participant of ESSC Junior Program and must not be enrolled in a seasonal program in the Valley.
The application process for the season of 2018/2019 will be open April to August. Interested applicants should contact their Schools’ Family Support Liaison.
