Snow Reporter's Comments

Good morning skiers & riders - wooohooo, it's the weekend! With trails and glades for all abilities, award winning programs and on and off hill activities the whole family can enjoy, Cranmore is the place to be!  Plus, just in, our winter season won't be over after this weekend!  Weather depending of course, we will be closing after March, 29th, but will be reopening Easter weekend, April 4-5 for skiing and riding!

We’ll be here today from 8:30am-4pm for skiing and riding. The Tubing & Mountain Adventure Park will be open from 9am-4pm.

We'll be skiing and riding on 54 trails and glades, 6 lifts and 164 acres.  Lifts open today include: the Skimobile Express Quad, South Quad, C-More Double, Schneider Triple, the Magic Carpet and Flying Carpet. Expect machine groomed and loose granular conditions to start off the day. Koessler is looking nice and bumped up, so if that's what you're looking for, that's the place to be! All other trails have been groomed out there. The Alley, home to the Double Feature Terrain Parks, will host the Terrain Park Gaper Jam, which starts out there at noon. Go hang out with the Cranmore Park Staff & celebrate a great season!

Today there is a chance of snow, mainly before 4pm. As I write this, some snowflakes fall outside my window, so we shall see! Chance of snow showers is 60% today. Otherwise, weather mostly looks cloudy, with a high near 32 degrees. Expect north wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch is possible.

Today is the last day for some fun on the Nastar hill. Racing will conclude this Saturday - thank you for a great season on the course!

Join us this weekend for our favorite spring events! Can you make it across the slush pool? The Spring Splash is a fun and free event happening TODAY at noon! Registration will be on the deck of Zip's Pub and Grill starting at 9am until 11am. Splash is happenin' right behind Zip's so make sure if you're not participating, you spectate! Prizes will be awarded for best splash, skim & more. Plus, the Gaper Jam, as noted above, is happening as well!

See you out there!

- Megan

January 19, 2015 Update

Monday, January 19, 2015

Mother Nature treated us to some rain yesterday afternoon and overnight.  The good news is that our snowmakers have built a great base of snow so our base depths were not greatly impacted.

Going into Tuesday we will fire up the system and complete snowmaking on Evergreen, Arlberg, Lower Arlberg and North Conway.  By Thursday we expect to have these trails completed and as a result we will have 100% of our snowmaking terrain open by Saturday, January 24.  In addition to snowmaking on these trails we will go back to Middle, the Summit, top of Schneider and add some more snow to our Beginner Basin/Terrain Based Learning Area.  Refreshing these areas will greatly improve our snow surface for the weekend.

Cold temperatures return tonight and will stay with us all week so it looks like a very productive week of snowmaking ahead.

With all the challenges thrown our way this year, my compliments go out to our snowmaking and grooming team who have allowed us to have great skiing for a majority of this season.

So take some time to thank a snowmaker or groomer if you see them.

Thanks and I look forward to seeing everyone at the mountain soon.
