WHAT DO I WEAR?
WHAT DO I WEAR?
You’re about to start spending entire days on a mountain
in the middle of winter, working hard at having fun. You’ll
need the right clothing to keep you riding (while all the
chumps in the lodge huddle around the bathroom hand dryer).
HINTS
1) Fabric is everything. Shop for waterproof and breathable
materials that keep the outside elements out while keeping
you warm and dry in any condition. Look for features like
zippered vents that let you dump excess heat when hiking
or ripping hard.
2) Get a good pair of gloves and pants. As a beginner, you’re
going to be spending time on the snow and pushing off of
it to stand back up (it’s not like you have poles
to cheat with).
3) Look for mobility and minimal bulk. Feel like the Stay-Puft
Marshmallow Man? That’s no good. You’ll need
range of motion to jump up and down and spin around, not
to mention the ability to bend over and strap into your
bindings without splitting a seam.
