Cranmore’s Christmas Vacation Week is Extra Jolly with New Million-Dollar Mountain Coaster and New Year’s Eve Events

This Christmas Vacation week, Cranmore is the place to be, with a host of fun family activities both day and night all week long.

NORTH CONWAY, NH- This Christmas Vacation week, Cranmore is the place to be, with a host of fun family activities both day and night all week long. This in combination with over $6 million in improvements this year makes the holiday period extra special at North Conway’s hometown mountain.

December 29th is the resort’s first family festival of the season, with a Fairytale themed Cranapalooza, sponsored by Story Land. The event will feature appearances from the popular theme park’s Cinderella, Humpty Dumpty and Scarecrow, joined by Cranmore’s own C-More the Penguin. Kids can cook s’mores around the fire in Schneider Square, get their faces painted and receive a balloon sculpture from Bobo-T-Clown. Parents can relax from a day of skiing in Zip’s Pub and listen to live music from Bill Cameron.

On Dec. 31st, Cranmore will offer families the best New Year’s Eve option in the region with a special circus-themed Cranapalooza. Ring in 2011 with children’s entertainer Marcus Gale. Then families can rock out together with favorite local musicians, Dennis and Davey. A special early evening fireworks display is offered at 7:30pm so even the youngest family members can stay up to enjoy the sights. Kids can also enjoy s’mores, face painting and carnival games.

All Cranapalooza activities start at 3pm. Live music starts at 4:30pm. Live entertainment is free and open to the public.

Cranmore also offers night skiing and riding, tubing and mountain coaster rides. A special Super Slider Ticket is offered on New Year’s Eve (and all Cranapalooza evenings) for only $59 for all ages, offering 3 mountain coaster rides, night skiing and 2 hours of tubing (skiing is valid from 2-8pm; and tubing and coaster is valid from 5-9pm). Imagine sliding down the mountain at night under the fireworks – that’s New Year’s Eve, Cranmore style! Other combo tickets are available at special savings and are available for sale online at www.cranmore.com.

All vacation week long in Zip’s Pub, Cranmore will be offering après ski entertainment, with some of the valley’s favorite musicians, scheduled from 3:30pm-6:30pm in Zip’s Pub. Starting Sunday, December 26th and running through Saturday, January 1 performers include Carl Iacozili, Red Gallagher and from Brunswick, ME, Pete Kilpatrick.

Cranmore’s new million dollar attraction, the Mountain Coaster, and its newly expanded tubing park will operate extended hours Dec. 26-Jan. 1 from 9am – 9pm; on Jan. 2nd both are open from 9am – 4pm.

Cranmore is open Christmas Eve and Christmas Day from 9-4pm for skiing, coaster rides and tubing. Ski area operations during the holiday week from Dec. 26-Jan. 2 are from 8:30am – 4pm other than Cranapalooza evenings.

For those who like to hit the elements in the terrain park, The Darkside’s first event is scheduled for Sunday, December 26th. Open to both skiers and riders, competitors will have a chance to impress the judge’s right out of the gate with fresh tricks for the new season. The event starts at noon, and registration will be from 8:30am-10am. There is a registration fee of $10 to enter.
