Q: Who is Rubber Snow and How do They Send Snow Alerts?
A:
Rubber Snow is a Booth Creek Ski Resorts partner. Rubber Snow uses the snow data we send to SnoCountry Mountain Reports, to send you real time snow alerts via your cell phone.

Q: Do I have to pay to get messages on my mobile device?
A:
Rubber Snows is a free service. However, you should check with your wireless carrier/mobile operator (eg, Verizion, AT&T) to see if there are charges to receive text messages on your mobile phone.

Q: How do I cancel my service?

There are four ways to cancel your service:

ALLTEL -- To receive text messaging on your mobile phone, you need a digital or dual mode phone with text messaging activated.  If you are unsure, call ALLTEL Customer Care at 1-800-255-8351 and request to have text messaging activated on your phone.

AT&T WIRELESS -- To receive  text messages on your mobile phone, you need a digital or dual mode phone with text messaging activated. In AT&T jargon, these types of phones are called "Digital PCS phones with text messaging service activated."  Please review the details about the cost of text messaging with AT&T.  If you have not signed up for AT&Ts Text Messaging Service or are unsure, call AT&T Customer Service at 1-800-888-7600 and request to have Text Messaging Service activated on your phone.

BELL MOBILITY -- To receive  text messages on your mobile phone, you need a digital or dual mode phone with text messaging activated.  If you have not signed up for Bell Mobility's Text Messaging Service or are unsure call Bell Mobility Customer Service at 1-800-667-0123 and request to have Text Messaging Service activated on your phone.

CINGULAR -- To receive  text messaging on your mobile phone, you need a digital phone. Cingular calls text messaging Interactive Messaging, and it is on by default on most phones. You will be charged per message unless you sign up for one of their messaging packages.  If you have not signed up for Cingular's Interactive Messaging or are unsure call Cingular Customer Service at 1-866-CINGULAR and request to have Interactive Messaging activated on your phone. Choose one of the three plans available: 100, 250 or 500 messages/month.

DOBSON CELLULARONE -- To receive  text messages on your mobile phone, you need a digital or dual mode phone with text messaging activated. Dobson Cellular calls text messaging Phone Mail.  If you have not signed up for Dobson Cellular's Phone Mail or are unsure call Dobson Customer Care at 1-800-882-4154 and request to have Phone Mail activated on your phone.

FIDO -- To receive  text messages on your mobile phone, you need a digital or dual mode phone with text messaging activated.  If you have not signed up for Fido's Text Messaging Service or are unsure call Fido Customer Service at 1-888-246-FIDO and request to have Text Messaging Service activated on your phone.

MTS -- To receive  text messages on your mobile phone, you need a digital or dual mode phone with text messaging activated.  If you have not signed up for MTS's SMS Messaging Service or are unsure call MTS Customer Support at 1-800-362-3347 and request to have SMS Messaging Service activated on your phone.

NEXTEL -- To receive  text messages on your mobile phone, you need a digital or dual mode phone with text messaging activated. According to all Nextel literature, every Nextel phone and plan is automatically set up to receive text messages -- no activation required. However, if you have trouble receiving text messages call Nextel's Customer Service at 1-800-639-6111.

If you have not signed up for Rogers' PCS Messaging Service or are unsure call Rogers Customer Service at 1-800-565-6009 and request to have PCS Messaging Service activated on your phone.

SPRINT PCS --  To receive  text messages on your mobile phone, you need a digital or dual mode phone with text messaging activated. Sprint PCS calls text messaging Wireless Web Messaging.  If you have not signed up for Sprint PCS's Wireless Web Messaging or are unsure, call Sprint PCS Customer Care at 1-888-211-4727 and request to have Wireless Web Messaging activated on your phone. Choose between the 30 messages/month or 200 messages/month plan.

SUNCOM -- To receive text messages on your mobile phone, you need a digital or dual mode phone with text messaging activated. According to their literature, SunCom includes text messaging in all of their service plans. Your phone is automatically set up to receive text messages — no activation required.  However, if you have trouble receiving text messages call SunCom Customer Care at 1-800-786-7378.

T-MOBILE -- T-Mobile customers can purchase plans that include a preset number of text messages a month. If you want to learn more about messaging options, call T-Mobile at 1-800-937-8997.

VERIZON -- To receive text messages on your mobile phone, you need a digital phone. Verizon calls text messaging Mobile Messenger, and it is on by default on most phones. You will be charged per message unless you sign up for one of their messaging plans. If you want to sign up for Verizon's Mobile Messenger Plan or are unsure if text messaging works on your phone, call Verizon Customer Care at 1-800-2-JOIN-IN and request to have Mobile Messenger Service activated on your phone. There are 100 and 600 messages/month plans.

Q: How does Rubber Snow  work?
A:
Our platform sends a SMS/Text message to all of our subscribers; regardless the phone company or the type of cell phone you carry. Your phone receives the message and notifies you, usually with a beep or vibration. You can read your message right on the display.  

Q: What will my handset do when I receive a Rubber Alert?
A: When you receive a Rubber Snow, your phone will beep or vibrate, depending on what setting the phone is on, please see your instruction manual for more specific details You should see "Message Received" along with an envelope icon on your phone's display. Please consult your handset instruction manual for specific details.

Q: What is a SMS/Text message?
A:
SMS stands for Short Message Service; it allows Rubber Snows to send a short message, approximately two sentences in length to cellular phones. All phones sold today are enabled to receive SMS.

Q: Will you sell or share my information with third parties?
A:
No. We will only use your information in the manner described by our Terms of Service. You can be assured that:

  • Your information will not be shared, sold, or distributed to any third parties (unless required by law).

  • Your information will not be used to send you spam or any other unsolicited commercial e-mail.

  • Your information will not be used to maintain a spam mail listing.

Q:  How does rubberSNOW make money?
A: 
We will never sell or share your contact information in order to bring in revenue. Currently, we're focused on building a profitable, viable business and community that our members can trust. Compromising that trust by selling or sharing member information would not only violate our own Privacy Policy, a legally binding document, but would undermine our own code of ethics and ability to become a successful company.

Q: What will happen to my information if rubberSNOW is sold or acquired?
A: 
One of the unique provisions of the rubberSNOW's Privacy Policy is the ownership rights it grants members regarding their information. As a rubberSNOW member, you have the right to access, update, and delete your information at any time—even in the event of a merger or acquisition.

Our privacy policy states that if we plan to use your information in a manner different from the manner stated at the time you joined rubberSNOW, you would have a choice as to whether or not we use your information in this new way. rubberSNOW will proactively notify you by sending an e-mail and providing a reasonable amount of time for you to respond, typically 30 days. If you do not agree with the new policy, you will retain the right to completely delete your information from our service.

If we are unable to notify you because you declined all member communications, we will assume that you do not wish your information to be used in the new manner, and the information will continue to be used only under the conditions originally agreed upon.

Q: How long are the rubberSNOW message I'll be receiving?
A: The maximum length for a message is 160 characters. Some messages can be very short or longer.

Q: How do I stop my phone from beeping when I get a message?
A: Many phones allow you to change the settings on your phone for how your phone will signal text messages.  On most phones you can set text messages to either ring, vibrate or silent mode.  Check your phone's manual.

Q: What happens if my cell phone is turned off?
A: 
If your phone is off when you receive the message, you will get the message when you turn it on, just like you would your voice mail.
