North Conway, NH – The American Cancer Society's Race to Beat Cancer is just around the corner. This "celebration of life" brings the community together in a unified effort to fight cancer. Former and current cancer patients, their families, businesses, civic organizations, and the public are invited to take part in this exciting event. Race to Beat Cancer takes place on Sunday, February 10, 2008 at Mount Cranmore Resort, North Conway.

Race to Beat Cancer is a family-oriented event where participants enjoy the camaraderie of a day on the slopes and also raise funds to support the activities of the American Cancer Society. Whether you're a recreational skier, a snowboarder, a downhill racer, a tubing enthusiast, or just want to help in the fight against cancer, you can join this worthwhile event. To participate, make a contribution and gather donations from friends and family who will sponsor you. Great prizes such as a 2008 Cranmore Season Pass will be awarded to the top fundraisers! Non-racers can participate too by making a contribution to sponsor a racer or make a general donation to the event.

"Race to Beat Cancer brings the progress against cancer to the forefront," said Kathy, Metz, American Cancer Society Community Executive. "Many participants are our family, friends, and neighbors who have dealt with cancer themselves. Their involvement is proof of the progress that has been not only reducing death rates, but also in improving the quality of life following cancer treatment.

"The funds raised enable us to continue our investment in the fight against cancer through research, education, advocacy, and patient services," said Metz. "Thanks to the generosity of corporate sponsors like Storyland, Capital Distributors, Brown Masonry Inc, M&M Assurance Group, The Memorial Hospital and Badger Realty, the money raised by participants goes directly to the American Cancer Society's lifesaving programs."
